Ok. So I have been seriously lacking in posts recently. Struggling to make this part of my routine. Mostly it's because I come up with these brilliant ideas while on the TTC and by the time I've gotten home and am sitting at my computer, well - poof! - the ideas magically disappear.
Today however I think I can make up for it with a good one. I say this because it was a brainstormed idea with my two fave peeps - RD and CH - and as they are likely the only two to read this, big shout outs to them!
At an after work hang-out, we were discussing religion. You know, god, alter boys, heaven and hell, having a church wedding even when not religious - you know, the important stuff. When the conversation turned to the fact that a) I'm a geek and b) whether or not we believe in God. Now, you are likely asking what being a geek has to do with anything, but it is indicative of the story.
I can't say that I'm religious. Wouldn't even say J-curious. But I do believe in the power of energy and that it can't be created or destroyed. I also believe that when you die, the energy that keeps the ol' nerves firing has to go somewhere. Sure, the molecular breakdown of your cells goes back into the circle of life, but what about all that energy that drives thoughts, expression, the subconscious? It has to go somewhere. You can call it a soul, ghost, spirit, whatever. I just like to think that the energy you've taken from the universe goes back out in the universe. Not like a "being" though that goes to heaven, just something that's contributing to the world in a way that we don't see.
My friend proposes that perhaps, if my theory is true, that it is in fact 'souls' that are contributing to global warming and the deterioration of the ozone. Oh, the giggles! Can you imagine? Death contributing to the overall warming of our planet and extinction of thousands of living beings - caused not by cow farts and cars, but instead by the death of people?!
I love the idea!
