Saving Lives in the Country

Seriously, it happened. In the ten days I was home in the good ol' countryside of MoFo (where yes, the town slogan is High, Healthy, Happy) it was all about saving lives.
The centre of the universe
I rocked home to MoFo to take care of our family dog Leicester while my folks were vacationing in Wales. For me, it was a break from the hectic city - time to breathe clean air, listen to crickets and cicadas and do a lot of relaxing. Oh, and save lives.

Hector the Turtle
It's true. Day one in the country and I rescued a baby turtle. I was turning onto our country road when I saw a little piece of dirt pop his little head out. I couldn't just leave him there, so after a quick photo shoot, I pointed him in the direction of the pond nearby and wished him well. I'd like to think his name was Hector.

Let's go to day two in the country. Friends had rocked up the night before for a few beers. The next morning as we were enjoying a cup of coffee, a hummingbird flew into one of the windows. He kind of twitched and then lay on the ground motionless and looking a little crooked. So, I went to pick him up and at put him out of the way on the lawn. Just as I picked up and was taking a little look at the poor guy, he perked right up and flew away. It was magic. Having a hummingbird in your hands is pretty amazing!

Ok, well, only two lives saved. But, I did talk to a rather nosy red squirrel that was making an awful racket in the trees across from the porch. This little guy was ticked off about something. Chattering up a storm. If you cluck at them, they get even madder - or maybe he was telling me why he was so ticked off - I'll never know.

Just call me Dr. Doolittle folks. If only I could figure out what Sito wanted to say on my conference calls, I'd be laughing.
