I love my fam

OK. So I mean it's an obvious statement. I'd say there are few people that could say the opposite. I mean, even if you don't "like" your family, there's an inherent love that comes from being related to someone. Why else would people seek out long-lost relatives and hope for a reunion show on Oprah?

My family happens to be pretty hilarious. Last weekend we were invited to a friend's wedding. Their eldest daughter AB who we had grown up with as a child got married. The best part about this wedding was that it was truly a family affair. My Pops and AD's dad had gone to med school together and Mum and AD's Mum had nursed together. Well, it sounds like something out of Grey's Anatomy, but I'm sure it was much more civilized (they are British after all). Anyway, we've all stayed connected over the years and while us kids have all dispersed, these are the occasions we all get together. Great fun!

Bit blurry - AD and her Pops dancing.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful. About 100 people which meant you got to chat with lots of people. The bride was gorgeous of course and the event was impeccable. What was best for me was that the Goodall's all got to sit at the same table - minus my youngest brother who is at university studying philosophy right now and plus JD my sister's hubby. I did feel slightly bad for the young couple who was seated with us, but when we found out he had the same name as my Pops, well you can only imagine the bonding that happened.

The table setting. Note we did end up using all of these glasses.
I'm not sure what got into my folks, they were bopping a way on the dance floor like I've never seen. I really like this part of being their child - the part where they're still your parents but more and more you get to see them as a couple. I like the view from here much better than when they were just the guiding principles in my life. I mean, they still are, but it's so nice to see their relationship for what it is without kids.

My sister and her hubby are quite hilarious. I'm impressed with him - I like him more and more each time we hang out. Mostly because I don't think I've ever met someone as ridiculous as my sister. Especially someone with his own original material (it's one thing to appreciate the ridiculous, another to have a sense of it yourself). He also is really genuine with my parents. I know he thinks we're crazy for playing as much Scrabble as we do, but he's really become one of us - Lord help him.

And then of course there was my bro. The dance moves that this one comes up with might only be trumped by the dancing man at the Mod Club in Toronto. It is a sight to behold. He's a bit of a dark horse sometimes and certainly keeps his cards close to his chest, but every now and then he lets a new side of him slip out and it is brilliant! I mean, split-your-pants-falling-on-the-floor gufawing brilliant!

Not a bad looking group.
Yup, we're all kinds of ridiculous really. On paper you'd likely get a totally different impression of us. But, consider this your warning. We won't live up to any of it and I'm predicting you'll love it anyway. I know I do.
