In today's Globe and Mail is an article about a study on recognized sexist behaviours. Apparently, complimenting a woman on her cooking is an "insidious deed."
Who the heck are these people participating in these studies?
If a man offered to help me with my groceries I'd think he was polite. If a man insisted on driving me home I'd think he wanted to ensure I got home safe. If I was buying a laptop and a man offered his opinion I'd be thankful for a second opinion. And if you complimented me on my cooking it'd be a bloody miracle because cooking only happens once in a blue moon.
These are all things that I would do for anyone else ... man, woman, old, young. It's the manner in which it's delivered that can be insulting, not the act itself.
I think this survey was based on the same women who completed the Sunlight laundry commercial who are only washing their sheets once a month.

Are you kidding? I love it when people compliment my cooking. It means I've done something they enjoy, and since I love to cook, I find that rewarding. But I also change the bed sheets once a week, so what do I know?
